On 14 and 15 May the conference ‘Europe united against old and new pandemics’ will take place in “A Room With A Zoo” in the heart of Antwerp, Belgium. This two-day event will provide an overview of lessons learnt from the COVID pandemic and provide you with options to be globally prepared for future health threats in a forwardlooking scene. Experts from across the globe will also give insightful keynotes and presentations on the topic of pandemic preparedness.
Sandra Gewehr, the R&D director of Ecodevelopment and acting president of the EMCA (European Mosquito Control Association), has been invited to give a presentation in the framework of Parallel Session 2 themed “LEVERAGING GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE IN PREPAREDNESS AND OUTBREAK RESPONSE”, alongside with Dr. Meghnath Dhimal (Chief/ Senior Research Officer, Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC)) and moderated by Dr. Ruth Müller (Professor of Entomology, Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM)) concerning preparedness in the context of climate change. Her presentation entitled “Pandemic preparedness and outbreak response: Research needs from the vector control operators’ perspective” will analyze the threats, the problems, the achievements and the needs for research and policy making in the field of Vector-borne diseases.
This Belgian presidency conference is coordinated by the Department for Economy, Science and Innovation of the Flemish government, in collaboration with the Research Department of the Public Service of Wallonia, the Department for Care of the Flemish government and the Federal Public Service on Public Health, and is co-financed by DG RTD of the European Commission.
