Webinar invitation: “Applying One Health approaches in Cities and Regions”

We are pleased to invite you to the webinar co-organized by the Regions for Health Network (RHN) of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the WHO European Network of Healthy Cities, to be held on Wednesday, April 1, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

In this webinar, Spiros Mourelatos will give a brief presentation on the topic “Α One Health Approach in Vector-Borne Diseases: The Paradigm of West Nile Virus (WNV).” This presentation will focus on how the three key components of One Health, in the case of WNV—namely, the vectors, the infection pool, and the infectious exposure, are interwined with the data generation and management in order to come up with the best possible decisions and interventions for the mitigation of this disease.

Why this webinar?

“One Health” is an integrated approach that recognizes the interconnection between human, animal, plant and ecosystem health. Global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, antimicrobial resistance and food system pressures directly affect health outcomes at regional and local levels. Regions and cities are uniquely positioned to translate global One Health frameworks into practical, multisectoral action. Yet many subnational authorities face governance, coordination and capacity challenges in operationalizing these approaches.
This webinar will provide practical insights, tools and real-world examples to support regions and cities in implementing One Health effectively. It will include a Q&A session to facilitate interactions with participants.
