Since 1996 we are pioneers at the implementation of wide – area mosquito control projects and we continue to innovate.
Six Ecodevelopment executives will participate in the XI European Mosquito Control Association EMCA) Workshop, which will take place in Mendrisio, Switzerland between 2 and 4 December 2024 at the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI).
It is the eleventh workshop of the organisation and is an influential professional workshop of its kind. The previous workshop, also held in Mendrisio in 2022 focusing on Best Practices for Mosquito Control, led to EMCA’s collaboration with WHO-TDR to produce guidelines for mosquito control in the built environment in Europe (https://www.emca-online.eu/2024-emca-guidelines).
The scope of the 2024 workshop is “Dialogue with wings: communicating mosquito science effectively” and will focus on six thematics (Risk Communication, Visual Communication, Community Engagement, Media Relations, Stakeholder Communication, Funding for Communication) with the aim of producing a roadmap for effective communication on mosquitoes (to be posted on the EMCA website and further disseminated).
After the seminar, a special workshop will be held on 5 December, organized by the TDR-WHO, on the communication strategy in the case of mosquito control using SIT (Sterile Insect Technique) methodologies.
During the three-day workshop, after the presentation of the theoretical background by experts, mosquito communication case studies will be presented, discussed and reviewed in interactive working groups in different target groups from different countries.
The workshop will be moderated by the CEO of NEHA (National Envrinomental Health Association, USA) Dr David Dyjack.
