Four executives from Ecodevelopment will participate in this year’s EMCA (European Mosquito Control Association) Workshop, which will take place on 19–20 November 2026 in Mendrisio, Switzerland. The company is supporting the event as a silver sponsor. In this capacity, it is promoting the exchange of scientific knowledge and business expertise in the field of mosquito control.
The central theme of this year’s workshop is the exchange of knowledge on the use of the biological larvicide Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) in mosquito control across Europe. Through presentations and interactive working groups, participants will examine issues relating to this specific formulation, its applications and effectiveness, as well as its impact on non-target organisms. The discussions will draw on both the scientific literature and evidence from the operational use of Bti in European countries.
The workshop will also highlight the challenges associated with the implementation of the European Biocidal Products Regulation in mosquito control, with an emphasis on the reduced availability of active substances and formulations, authorisation requirements and methods for assessing their risk and efficacy. The aim is to facilitate an exchange of views amongst experts, stakeholders and the relevant European authorities in order to identify practices and solutions that will support the effective and safe control of disease vectors. Finally, EMCA’s new basic training programme on operational mosquito control (Basic Training Programme on Operational Mosquito Control) will be presented, which combines theoretical and practical training in accordance with the principles of integrated vector management, and aims to establish a common European framework for training and the certification of professional skills.
As with every seminar organised by the European Mosquito Control Organisation, this year too, Ecodevelopment staff will have the opportunity to exchange expertise with researchers and professionals from across Europe and contribute to the dialogue on effective and environmentally responsible mosquito control practices.
