In May 2025, the installation of 10 automatic mosquito counters ECODEV (Electronic Counting Device) started in the Region of Western Greece, in addition to the two commercial systems of Biogents (in operation since 2023), as part of the research project implemented by Ecodevelopment in collaboration with the International University of Greece (IHU) from 2024.
The collected data from the electronic traps are transmitted in real time to the platform kounoupakia.gr, implemented by IHU, which in the near future is scheduled to be connected to our electronic project monitoring platform ebite.
This monitoring network operates in parallel with the existing network of 30 conventional CΟ2 traps of Ecodevelopment (10 per Regional Unit). The simultaneous operation of the two networks will validate the data collected by the new ECODEV electronic trap. In addition, the stable network of 30 trap sites, which has been operating for the last five years, allows us to produce comparative weekly indices compared to the existing time series of the Ecodevelopment data.
